LANDSCAPING TIPS
SPRING | SUMMER | FALL

MARCH
Begin spring clean-up by clearing out dead leaves from gutters, planting beds and any other planting areas.

Apply fertilizer and pre-emergent herbicides to control crabgrass.

Cultivate your planting beds and re-mulch to help them remain healthy and disease free.

Edge your beds for crisp clean lines and to help prevent the grass from spreading into your landscape beds.

APRIL
Now is the time to cut the grass and remove winterburn - the dead, brown areas that make your lawn look dull and unattractive. Do this early to promote vigorous new growth.

Plant grass seed in bare or severely damaged yard areas. Plant woody ornamental and evergreens as soon as the soil is workable.

MAY
May is flower month. Flowers can be used in masses for effect, as borders at bed edges, in window boxes, tubs or hanging baskets.

Prepare the soil for flower beds by adding fertilizer and organic material to improve aeration and drainage. Consider height, color combinations, timing of bloom, textures, background and borders when choosing flowers.

Frequent care is needed throughout the growing season to maintain healthy, vigorous plants. Watering is essential: slow deep soaking is the preferred method.

Remember to pinch off spent blooms to maintain the health and beauty of flowering plants.
