LANDSCAPING TIPS
As the colors of the landscape change to warm tones of scarlet and gold, we want to remind you of a few landscaping tips to keep in mind.Plants and trees that are planted in the fall enjoy cooler temperatures, ideal growing conditions and root development. Now is not a good time to prune azaleas,
rhododendrons and other spring flowering shrubs because they have already set their buds for next year's blossoms. If you prune now, you may sacrifice next year's spring flowers.
SEPTEMBER
Rejuvenate faded annual beds with the fresh colors of fall-flowering mums, pansies and ornamental cabbage and
kale - these plants add beauty to your garden beds during the fall and winter months.
In anticipation of the promise of next spring, now is the time to plant spring flowering bulbs. OCTOBER
Seeding/overseeding, liming, fertilizing,
aerating, verticuting and dethatching your lawn can also be done in October.
Now is the time to plant all spring flowering
bulbs such as tulips, crocus and daffodils.
Bring your house plants back indoors. You may want to spray them first so that bugs don't come in with them. Also a good time to add fertilizer.
The holidays are just around the corner, it is time to start thinking about holiday decorations. NOVEMBER If you have water gardens, cover them with pond netting to keep leaves from falling into them, remove dead foliage off plants and set them to the bottom of the pond.
